Important achievements for your organisation over the past 2 years

We have organized various programmes in collaboration with other CSOs on Procurement Monitoring of Government projects, and also engaged in leveraging Freedom of Information to request procurement information of key sectors of the economy. We engaged in budget tracking and engaged in monitoring the implementation of UNCAC review recommendations by the Nigerian government. we have been active in the implementation and monitoring of the National Anti-corruption Strategy since is adoption. We have participated in the passage of many anti-corruption bills into law such as PPA, FOIA etc including the recently passed law.

Specific description of the CSO’s work in anti-corruption

We participated in various anti-corruption awareness creations on radios and televisions and distributed IEC Materials across secondary and tertiary institutions on the danger of corruption in the education sector. Apart from the above, we have been collaborating with key anti-corruption agencies on capacity building and information sharing around whistleblowing of corrupt officials in the procurement processes for further actions.

CSO’s work in relation to the UNCAC and the UNCAC review mechanism

Monitoring the implementation of UNCAC review recommendations by the Nigerian government. we have been active in implementing and monitoring the National Anti-corruption Strategy since its adoption. Also, we have been popularising the key recommendations among CSOs and mainstreaming the recommendations into our work at all levels. We participated in the two cycles of review, especially with the team of reviewers on the self-assessment filed by our government.

Anti-corruption activities CSO was involved in over the past 2 years

We participated along with other 8 CSOs in the follow up on the need to call for accelerated passage of the Proceed of Crime and Asset Management bill into law in Nigeria. Apart from this, we are always in touch with other CSOs on the need to call for the passage of whistleblowing laws in order to encourage more Nigerians to participate in the fight against corruption.
