UNCAC Review Official Documents |
|
The Mechanism for the Review of Implementation of the UNCAC combines a self-assessment with a governmental peer-review, each country being reviewed by the governmental representatives of 2 other countries. The process is supervised by the Implementation Review Group (IRG).
The IRG is an open-ended group, composed of representatives of the States Parties.
The Mechanism started operation in July 2010. Two review cycles of 5-years each will take place. In the first cycle (2010-2014), the implementation of UNCAC Chapter III on Criminalization and Law enforcement and Chapter IV on International cooperation will be reviewed. The second cycle (2015-2019) will cover Chapter II on Preventive measures and Chapter V on Asset recovery.
The output of a country review is a country report. The executive summaries of the country reports are published. Also, the Mechanism encourages governments to publish their self-assessments.
