PArticipants delivered a Coalition Statement calling for more transparency, accountability and participation of civil society signed on by 356 organizations from 95 countries.

CSO Coalition Calls for Adoption of Effective Review Mechanism
at the Third CoSP, Doha, 9-13 November 2009

1.Corruption undermines democracy, the rule of law, human rights, civil liberties and sustainable development. The UNCAC Coalition (the Coalition) believes that the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), with its worldwide membership and comprehensive anti-corruption framework, is key to dealing effectively with global corruption. In its many provisions on transparency and accountability, the UNCAC includes measures that, if implemented, will contribute to preventing a recurrence of the current global financial crisis.

Join your support for an effective review mechanism!

Sign on the coalition statement HERE and send your message to the UNCAC Working Group on Review Mechanism meeting in Vienna from Aug.25-Sept.2, 2009.

The Statement will remain open to receive support from civil society organisations throughout September and October 2009. The final list of signatories will be presented to the Third Conference of States Parties to the UNCAC, to meet in November 2009 in Doha, Qatar.
